Approved Student Apps at SFUSD (Digital Backpack)

This page will be available in an archived state starting July 26, 2020 until we finalize the transition.
These applications are approved for use with students by SFUSD Legal and Department of Technology.
Apps that are not on this list, and which collect any student information whatsoever should not be used with students: those applications may sell the students' information or use it for marketing purposes. (A process for requesting the approval of new apps is coming.) Please be a champion for protecting student data privacy, by only using approved apps and by encouraging others to do the same.
You MUST follow these instructions when purchasing apps - SFUSD DoT will not be able to help you install or use applications purchased other ways. Using other methods to obtain applications is a violation of SFUSD legal and business policies. If you have questions, it is always better to contact help@sfusd.edu before making a purchase.

- WeVideo: a Chromebook-compatible video editor. Please note that the free version of WeVideo is not approved for student use - students must only use WeVideo Premium, which can be purchased with an ISA.

A very limited number of applications are approved for purchase under special circumstances and are not listed here. Please contact the Digital Backpack team by submitting a ticket to help@sfusd.edu if you have questions about a program or website that you do not see.
At this time, we are not accepting requests to approve additional applications. We appreciate your patience while we implement the approval process, which is expected in Fall 2020.
Reminder: any application or website that is not listed here, and which collects any student information should not be used with students. You have an obligation to protect all student information, including email addresses and first names. Sharing personal information about students - or instructing them to do so - may violate the students' rights to privacy. Please help us keep our students' personal information safe.
