What will I use Frontline and Red Rover for?

All employees will use Frontline and Red Rover for the following administrative tasks: 

Frontline Employee Portal: 

  • View and update their personal employee information, including EEID, hire date, email, phone number, address, emergency contact, and spouse.
  • View job assignments and respective calendars
  • View paystubs from July 23, 2025 onward
  • View withholdings, reimbursements and W-2s/1095s
  • View benefits and deductions
  • View leave balances and activity (sick leave, vacation, floating holidays)
  • And if you are a supervisor, the profile of your direct reports and any vacancies on your team

Red Rover: 

  • Entering time (only for as-needed employees).
  • Entering absences (vacation requests, sick time)
  • Entering extra time/overtime
  • Approving timesheets 

Administrators, resource managers, and clerks will also use Frontline and Red Rover for: 

Frontline: 

  • Budget Development
  • Procurement
  • Payroll processing
  • Retirement reporting 

Red Rover: 

  • Recruiting and Onboarding
  • Substitute Management 

How do I log into Red Rover?

To log in and access Red Rover:

  1. Navigate to https://app.redroverk12.com/
  2. Use your SFUSD email and password to log in.
  3. If you need assistance with logging into Red Rover, submit a ticket via Zendesk.

What is an exception-based employee? If I’m an exception-based employee, do I need to enter my time in Red Rover?

Exception Based Pay Employees are employees who are not as-needed hourly. This includes certificated and classified employees. Exception-based employees do not have to enter their time in Red Rover. All exception based pay employees will be paid their base salary without supervisor approval.

Note: Classified hourly employees with regularly scheduled hours are considered exception based pay employees and do not need to enter daily hours worked in Red Rover. 

What do I need to enter in Red Rover as an as-needed employee, exception-based employee, or substitute?

How do I log into the Frontline employee portal?

You can log into the Frontline employee portal by visiting https://sanfranciscoportal.xcoe.online/#/login

If you have never logged in to the Frontline Employee Portal, follow these instructions to register for the Frontline Employee Portal. 

How do I check my leave balances (vacation time and sick leave)?

You can check your leave balances in the Frontline Employee Portal. Your leave balances appear on the dashboard and under “My Benefits” in the Frontline Employee Portal. 

How do I make adjustments to my personal information (contact information, tax withholdings)?

Effective July 1, 2025, you can make adjustments to your personal information in the Frontline Employee Portal. In the portal, go to “My Information” to change your contact information and go to “My Payroll” and select the “Withholdings” tab if you need to change your tax withholdings information.
