Commissioner Mark Sanchez

Commissioner Mark SanchezMark Sanchez held a seat on the San Francisco Board of Education from 2001-2009, serving as President from 2007-2009. He was re-elected to the Board in 2016. 

He is currently Board representative on the Council of the Great City Schools Board of Directors located in Washington D.C. which is comprised of the nation's 74 largest school districts.

Sanchez taught fourth and fifth grades in SFUSD from 1993-2000, and eighth grade science in Redwood City from 2001-2008. He served as principal at SFUSD's Horace Mann Middle School (2009-2011) and Cleveland Elementary School (2011-2017).

In the late 1990s, Sanchez co-founded two educational activist organizations: Teachers 4 Change and Teachers 4 Social Justice.

Commissioner Sanchez is a long-time resident of the Mission District and currently teaches third grade in Daly City.
