March 3rd, 2026

Dear Abraham Lincoln High School Community,

I am pleased to share that Interim Principal Marisol Arkin has been selected to serve as Principal of Abraham Lincoln High School for the 2026–2027 school year.

During Interim Principal Arkin’s time thus far, she has already brought many promising practices to ALHS. She has built strong partnerships with ALHS parent organizations, serving as a liaison to the PTSA and helping to reinvigorate AAPAC to ensure that all students and families feel supported and experience a strong sense of belonging. Interim Principal Arkin has partnered closely with the discipline team to design and implement a restorative, tiered discipline system that gives students meaningful opportunities to reflect, take accountability, and repair harm within the school community. Through restorative mediations and facilitated conversations with teachers and peers, students are building the skills they need to navigate conflict constructively into adulthood.

As you may recall, ALHS former principal resigned late in the 2024–2025 school year, which did not allow sufficient time to conduct a full school-site interview process. At that time, we relied on SFUSD’s district HR screening process, along with recommendations from supervisors and colleagues who had worked closely with Principal Arkin, to determine that appointing her as Interim Principal was in the best interest of the ALHS community.

Based on her strong performance this year, Interim Principal Arkin became eligible for SFUSD’s expedited hiring process. I began this process with the ALHS School Site Council (SSC) at its February 3rd meeting. Under this process, the SSC may provide feedback to the Assistant Superintendent regarding whether to waive a full site-based interview process and continue with the current interim leader.

In addition to the required SSC feedback, I sought broader input from the ALHS administrative team, Instructional Leadership Team, Union Building Committee (UBC), Coordinated Care Team, and multiple parent leadership groups through an anonymous survey. After reviewing this feedback alongside additional performance measures, it was clear that the ALHS community overwhelmingly supports Interim Principal Arkin’s continued leadership.

I have shared this outcome with Interim Principal Arkin, and she is deeply grateful for the community’s trust and excited to continue serving and supporting the students, staff, and families of ALHS.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at any time.

Warmly,

Davina Goldwasser signature
