SFUSD staff, please read this entire message about an issue that impacts all SFUSD employees who have received wages in 2022.

May is National Foster Care Month, and SFUSD’s Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program is honoring students and supportive adults during the annual End of Year celebration. Nominate a foster student and/or supportive adult for an award!

SFUSD is partnering with Vision to Learn (VTL) to provide free eye exams and glasses to elementary, middle and high schools. Priority will go to schools that have a 50% or higher free and reduced lunch eligibility. However, VTL will support as many schools as they have the capacity to support.

The annual Bike & Roll to School Week celebration is April 24-28. Students and families across the city celebrate getting around under their own power. Whether students are on bike, scooter, bus, wheelchair, or skateboard, it's healthy green, and FUN! Register for Bike & Roll to School Week now to receive incentives for your students and families.

Did you know that all SFUSD educators and students have access to Adobe Express? With Adobe Express you and your students can create graphics such as posters, infographics, and more as demonstrations of learning, as well as high-quality videos, webpages, and portfolios in minutes.

The Educational Placement Center (EPC) will send out lists of assigned students on Friday, March 17. Schools should plan activities to welcome them. Also, join EPC for info on assignments on March 10.

SFDPH updated their isolation and quarantine directive to bring the city’s guidance into alignment with what has been shared by the CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH). While the SFDPH guidance stands for the general public, businesses that operate within the jurisdiction of Cal/OSHA must still follow their established non-emergency COVID-19 regulations. 

SFUSD families, staff, and community members, come to our virtual workshop and provide feedback or request an in-person presentation. This will inform the creation of a Facilities Master Plan that will guide how we allocate funding to buildings over the next ten years.

The SFUSD High School Task Force invites students, families, staff, and community members to a virtual Community Listening Session on March 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

SFUSD kindergarten and fourth-grade teachers, join us for our 3-day Summer Institute (June 7-9) and take a deep dive into one of the Amplify Science units for your grade level. The institute is organized by the Science and Health Education Partnership at UCSF and is being taught by SFUSD teacher leaders with extensive experience teaching Amplify Science in their classrooms.

Come to the annual Support for Families Information and Resource Conference on Mar. 18! This is a free conference for families of children with disabilities, the professionals who work with them, and community members.

Middle and high school teachers, learn more about the Asian Americans who fought for civil rights that benefited all who call America home on Mar. 22. This in-person event will feature prominent Asian American Studies luminaries who fought to include Ethnic Studies and AAPI studies in our schools. It will also present multimedia resources and highlight ways to incorporate them into classroom learning and provide an opportunity for teachers to share the experiences and challenges of teaching AAPI history in the classrooms.

Everyone is invited to SFUSD & SFPW Arbor Day Fair on Mar. 11, so bring your friends and family for a few hours of fun, hands-on activities and info booths.
