On July 15th, 2022, the DoT will be restricting students’ ability to use Chrome extensions with their district Google accounts. After this change, students will only be able to add and use district-approved extensions. All other extensions will be removed and unavailable for student use.

One of the main reasons for this change is to prevent students from adding any of the growing number of extensions that allow them to bypass the district’s content filtering and extensions that have no clear academic purpose. This change will also prevent students from using apps and extensions that potentially share student information and do not meet District data privacy requirements.

You can see a list of district-approved extensions and digital learning tools by visiting sfusd.edu/apps.
