Announcement Message
In accordance with U.S. Ed Code Section 6312, annual notification letters for parents/guardians of English Learner students will be posted on ParentVue between Sept 12-15. Families who do not have at least one active PVUE account will be mailed a physical letter to the student’s home address on the week of September 12th.
The letters will inform parents/guardians of their child's continued identification as an English learner (EL) in a California school, and provide all the required information to meet Federal Title I or Title III requirements, which include but are not limited to the following information:
- English proficiency status
- English language assessment results
- Language pathway of the EL student
- Language acquisition programs
- Exit criteria (the four criteria required for reclassification)
- Graduation rate
- Parental rights and options*
- *Parents/guardians seeking a change in program placement must be offered and provided information regarding the various programs/methods of instruction available in the school and in SFUSD. Information about English learner programs can be found on the SFUSD website at: https://www.sfusd.edu/learning/english-language-learners/english-learner-guides
- Any change of program from Immersion/Biliteracy, etc. to English Plus or vice versa, requires parents to go through the Educational Placement Center as other students may be on the waiting list.
