Announcement Message

Thank you to all of the school site and district staff members, families and students who worked hard to create a joyful and meaningful Inclusive Schools Week celebration in SFUSD. It is always humbling to see folks passion about this event.

Here are a few highlights:

Elementary Schools held Inclusion Fairs, Carnivals, Dance Parties, Spirit Weeks, Presentations and talks on Special Education Rights and even an Inclusive Identity Tree.

Middle and High Schools hosted Special Olympics Assemblies, Quilt making, social media take overs and more. High school students from Mission, RA-SOTA and Lowell shone as panelists in our first ever Student Inclusion Summit where students shared their insights on what needs to be in place to create an inclusive environment for all students.

Special thanks to the PE Department, Social Studies, Librarians and VAPA for all their work to ensure our district staff have tools to support inclusion all year long. The PE department shared inclusive lesson plans; the social studies department shared inclusive curriculum; librarians provided schools with diverse inclusive books; and VAPA deepened their training for staff on accessibility and disability culture.

All of these resources and more are available on the Special Education Inclusion Website.
