Announcement Message

We are excited to share that SFSD has finalized a late contract with Fast Response On-Site Testing (FROST) to bring our hearing and vision screening practices into alignment with CA Ed code requirements.

What does this mean for families:

  • All students K-5 will be screened for mandated vision and hearing

  • If you child has already been screened this year, they will not be rescreened

  • Parents will receive a letter regarding the screening results and recommended next steps only if their child does not pass a screening. Students who passed the screening(s) will not receive a letter.

  • If a student is already under the care of a specialist for vision or hearing deficits, OR parents would like to opt out of this mandated screening, they can let their teacher know in writing.

  • Notification of the screening date should come from your child’s school. Please ensure your student brings their glasses to school the day of the screening.

Thank you for your support in helping ensure all students receive these important health screenings.
