Important Impact for Students, Families, and Staff
Because closures begin at 7 a.m. on Fridays, they will directly affect school morning drop-off and afternoon pickup traffic, in addition to weekend travel.
Students, families, and staff should expect:
- Major traffic delays and detours beginning Friday mornings during these three weekends
- Significantly increased travel times during school commute hours
- Heavy congestion around key intersections along 19th Avenue
- Disruptions to weekend activities and events
We recommend planning ahead by:
- Allowing extra travel time
- Considering alternate routes
- Checking Muni service adjustments
- Staying alert for changing traffic patterns in the area
For students currently using General Education or IEP bus transportation, SFUSD's Transportation Office will work with Zum to plan alternate routes and notify families of any delays.
Families who plan to pick up their students directly should cancel their scheduled rides in the Zum app.
Why This Work Is Happening
These closures allow crews to complete major paving work more quickly and safely, improving road conditions along one of the city’s busiest corridors.
