What commitments are being made to students and school staff?

Introduction

SFUSD’s Commitment to Equity and Excellence

We are focused on creating strong, supportive learning environments for every student in every school every day. Our dedication to equity remains at the heart of our commitment. That means our school district champions diversity and social justice. Our responsibility is to ensure that each and every student feels safe and included within our schools and within our curriculum and instructional practices.

Vision 2025, the Graduate Profile, and SFUSD’s Vision, Values, Goals, and Guardrails have informed our commitment to equity and excellence. We believe we can fulfill this commitment by focusing on five key areas, as detailed in the diagram below. When all five areas are met, we will have the greatest chance of achieving a world-class education and the best possible student outcomes.

We can no longer realize this vision without acknowledging that the district’s circumstances have changed. We must confront an uncomfortable truth: to fulfill our commitment to equity and excellence, we must make significant changes and realign the school district’s resources.
