Special Education Transportation

Special Education Transportation Services

Transportation is a related service and is not provided as a convenience.  Transportation will be provided from the curb of the home to school and return back home.  A PM drop-off address other than the home must be a related service noted in the IEP and included in the notes within the transportation section in SEIS.

All requests for transportation services for students with IEPs should be submitted using the online Transportation Eligibility Determination form (TED). The link to this form is available in SEIS, right before the question: "Determined to be Eligible for Special Education Transportation" within the CALPADS Services page.

Any new transportation service, annual renewal, resuming services, change, or deletion must be entered in TED.

Once the IEP team completes the SEIS TED form, the Transportation Department will automatically receive it and we will use the information to design the best transportation services for students. All requests will be processed within 7 to 10 business days.

  • The district shall provide appropriate transportation services for any special education student when required by the student’s individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 accommodation plan.
  • The District shall use a SpEd Transportation Eligibility Determination Form to determine whether transportation services should be written into a student’s IEP.
  • If a student is transferring into SFUSD from another public school district and has transportation services written into their current IEP, those services will transfer over. Please submit a Transportation Eligibility Determination Form for those students as well.
