Greetings MLK Families,

MLK Art/Music Night and Cobra Band Concert

On Friday December 13th at 5:30pm, MLK's Art Classes and Cobra Band will be hosting Art/Music Night! Students in Art will be displaying artwork from the Fall semester. Students in Cobra Band will be performing for the night. Students of Art and Cobra Band are encouraged to invite friends and family to attend.

8th Graders that are interested in applying to Lowell High School and Ruth Asawa School of the Arts: there is an early application deadline. Free Compost at MLK MS

Get free compost on Saturday, December 14. Bring your own 5 gallon buckets and be prepared to shovel.

WHEN: Saturday, December 14 from 10 AM – 12 PM   

WHERE: MLK Academic Middle School parking lot      

Just show up with buckets. You don’t have to volunteer/register.

Limit: 5 buckets per person. While supplies last. The event may end early.

Yearbook Purchasing

Hello MLK Families,

Yearbooks are currently on sale for $30 but prices will rise to $35 in January, so buy your yearbooks before prices increase! If you would like to personalize your yearbook, namestamping starts at $8.50 and must be purchased online before January 24th. To avoid the online service fee, we are also accepting alternative payments such as cash, Venmo, and cashapp. If you would like to buy a yearbook using the alternative payment methods, please use this google form.

Grading Period Ending

The first grading period ends 12/20/2024. If your child is missing work, remind them to check with their teachers to see if they need to turn in any work. 

MLK Dress Code

1. Clothing, jewelry, and personal items shall be free of writing, pictures, or any other insignia which is vulgar, lewd, obscene, profane, or sexually suggestive or which promotes the use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or other illegal activity.
2. Students must have footwear that is safe and appropriate for the activity they are engaging in. 
3. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments. See-through tops or bare abdomens are prohibited.  Garments exposing the entire thigh or the buttocks are prohibited.

FILL OUT THE Multipurpose Family Income Form 

All meals are free this school year but your Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) form is still requested to support school funding! HELP MLK lunch funding by filling out the form!

In the past few years, students qualifying for free or reduced lunch during the school year also got $120 for summer EBT. 

Parent Submitted Absences through ParentVUE

Starting in the 2024-25 school year, parents/guardians can use the ParentVUE App, to enter a FULL day absence via the ParentVUE portal on their mobile app or desktop site.
