Labor Day - No School

All SFUSD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 for Labor Day.

Student Planners

MLK MS has given every student a student planner. Students are writing their assignments into the student planners. Please check your child’s planner and see what homework needs to be complete.

Secure Protocol Letters

FILL OUT THE Multipurpose Family Income Form 

We are at 70%! We need to reach 90+% for continued funding. All meals are free this school year but your Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) form is still requested to support school funding! HELP MLK lunch funding by filling out the form! This form assist with informing the district and the state of California the needs of MLK MS. This form assisted with MLK MS receiving the Community School Grant, adding $250,000 per year, as well as Title 1 Funding at $108,000 per year. In the past few years, students qualifying for free or reduced lunch during the school year also got $120 for summer EBT. 

Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) Board of Education Candidate Forum

Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), co-sponsored by APA Family Support Services, Chinese Progressive Association, Community Youth Center, and Immigrant Parent Voting Collaborative, will be hosting a Board of Education candidate forum for the upcoming November 2026 elections. Community members and parents will have the chance to learn about the background and priorities of each candidate, and raise questions that highlight the needs of their children and families. Childcare, light meal, and Chinese interpretation will be provided at the event. Reminder: Non-citizen parents can vote in San Francisco School Board Elections; please inquire for more information.

School Starts at 9:25AM

School start at 9:25AM and classes start at 9:30AM. Students must be in class by 9:30AM, arriving after 9:30AM, student will be tardy. Please encourage your child to sleep early and be ready for school.

Student Tardy Policy

Reading Log

All students should receive a reading log from English class. Students should be reading 20 minutes a day. 

Parents as Partners Weeks

Advisory Teacher will call you by phone to introduce themselves and get to know your family and child better.  The purpose of this conversation is to establish a partnership between you and the school to make your child as successful as possible during their time at MLK Middle School.  The phone call should take approximately 10 Minutes.  Please listen out for calls from your child’s teachers this week.  Thank you and we look forward to working with you this school year!

Family Portal (ParentVUE) lets you view your child's attendance, grades and report cards. Phone Policy for Students

In order to create the best learning and social/emotional conditions possible for our students, MLK IS A PHONE-FREE SCHOOL. Students are required to turn their phones OFF and put them AWAY before entering the school building. This includes (whether on or off, being used or not) 

• Phones

• iPads
• Earbuds
• Personal Computers

Our phone policy is aligned with SFUSD’s cell phone policy, and is enforced with the academic and social-emotional wellbeing of our students in mind. 

Parents/guardians and students that need to make contact with each other during the school day can use our school phone lines. To contact our main office, parents/guardians can call 415-330-1500.

Primer día de clase
