Student and Family Handbook
The Student and Family Handbook is a resource that SFUSD provides to support students and families to understand the right that you have in the district. It is also a place where the outlines our expectations for students and families.
Who We Are
Francisco Middle School, located in the heart of the Chinatown-North Beach community, has a rich tradition of delivering a strong academic curriculum to our diverse student population. We involve our students in meaningful school experiences that promote the joy of learning while addressing students' individual needs. Our school believes that all students should have access to an appropriate and quality education that prepares them to be high functioning members of the community. We believe that personal relationships between staff and students, and student to student are essential to student achievement. Students tell us they are the most engaged when they feel a connection with their teachers and can work with their peers. We believe that achievement is not an end result, but a process of continuous improvement, and that struggle, mistakes, and effort are necessary for growth. We offer a network-ready computer lab, library media center, and computers in every classroom.
Vision and Tenets
The vision of Francisco Middle School is to involve young adolescents in meaningful school experiences, which include:
- a nurturing, safe, school climate that promotes dynamic academic development and the joy of learning
- a student-centered philosophy which reflects our students' individual needs
- a committed school community involved in ongoing professional development and school-wide decision making
- providing our students with the necessary skills for them to be college-ready and career-ready
We also focus on three main tenets at school: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful. Our teachers reinforce these lessons daily with students to create an environment at school that is conducive to learning.
