Back to All Updates

Dear SFUSD Families:

We’re less than two weeks until the first day of school and I know we’re all eager to reconnect with our school communities. Even though we’re beginning the school year from a distance, we are united in our commitment to serve each and every student and provide them with the best possible experience with distance learning. To that end, please keep reading today’s digest for updates about how we can all work together in this collective effort.

Updates

Family Survey and Town Hall Responses

Thank you again to everyone who was able to share their input. We heard from many families who want more interaction for their children and also want SFUSD to prioritize health and safety. Check out summaries of the District’s Family Distance Learning & Back-to-School Survey and top thoughts shared at the family town halls this summer.

Activate your Family Portal (ParentVUE) account!

ParentVUE offers secure access to your student’s grades, attendance, student login information, and more! Update your contact information to ensure you receive district and school notifications. Learn more about how you can use ParentVUE at sfusd.edu/parentvue.

Need to borrow technology for distance learning?

For distance learning in the fall, SFUSD is preparing to loan Chromebook devices and Internet access for students in grades PK-12 who need technology to engage in distance learning. Technology distribution currently prioritizes students who NEED technology, NOT every student. Schools will distribute technology to families who need it at the beginning of the year along with instructional materials and resources.

If you need to borrow technology, please fill out the Fall 2020 Technology Request Form. Your school will communicate the opportunities for you to receive needed technology as the school year begins. For more information, visit sfusd.edu/device.

Resource Link for students too

The resource link is available to respond to SFUSD questions online and by phone. Both students and families are welcome to reach out.

SFUSD Meal Sites Closed August 12

All SFUSD meal sites will be closed next week, August 12, to provide a break for our dining staff before resuming service with the start of the new school year. Twice the meals were provided at the August 5 pickup.

Grab & Go Meals Now Available to SFUSD Students Only

As the school year begins with distance learning, SFUSD Student Nutrition Services will continue to provide nutritious school meals for students. Beginning August 19, meals will be available to SFUSD students only. This change is due to USDA policies. Families must provide the student’s barcode for their meal account when picking up meals.  Each student’s barcode will be mailed to households by August 18. View the list of sites and schedules at sfusd.edu/schoolfood.

Free meals are available to students who qualify or attend CEP schools. If your student is not eligible for free or reduced-price meals, $22.50 per bag will be charged to their SchoolCafe account. Learn more and apply at sfusd.edu/MFIF

Apply Now for 20-21 School Meal Benefits!

The Multipurpose Family Income form for the 20-21 school year is available online at sfusd.edu/MFIF. The form is available in English, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese. A new application needs to be submitted each school year to qualify for meal benefits. For assistance, please reach out to SNS at 415-749-3604 or SchoolLunch@sfusd.edu.
