There are multiple phases of community engagement to ensure the community’s voices are heard. We are currently at Phase 1 of 3. We want the community involved in every step of this process; please reach out and join us in this work.

In Phase 1, SFUSD will facilitate two cycles of feedback before presenting the criteria to the Board of Education in June 2024. SFUSD will engage the community to revise criteria for school mergers, co-locations, and closures. These cycles include:

On March 2, 2024, SFUSD held its annual District-wide Planning Summit where all School Site Councils came together to learn and plan together. At that summit, Dr. Wayne reiterated our commitment to creating strong, supportive learning environments for each and every student in each and every school each and every day, and announced the process for possible school closures, mergers, and co-locations.

You can review community feedback from Phase 1 Virtual Town Halls and In-Person Community Sessions.

We are committed to robust community engagement at every phase of this process. More information regarding the dates, times, and opportunities for engagement in Phases 2, 3, and 4 will be provided as soon as it is available.

A previous version of this webpage noted direct outreach to School Site Councils as part of the first phase of community engagement. We apologize that this was incorrectly added to the website. School Site Council members with questions about or input on the RAI should submit a ticket through Resource Link or speak with their principal.
