Overview
The Paraeducator Leadership Network (PLN) is an exciting PAID leadership pathway designed collaboratively by paraeducators for paraeducators. As participants in the program, PLN members:
-
Attend a leadership professional learning community (PLC) once monthly in order to build capacity to lead at their sites and at the district level (Wednesdays once a month from 5-7 pm)
-
Design and lead professional development for paraeducators that you present at your school site and/or at district-wide conferences
-
Engage in collective thinking and action about how to address the learning needs of paraeducators in SFUSD
-
Honor the program norms and SFUSD core values (Student-Centered, Fearless, United, Social Justice, and Diversity Driven)
Support and Compensation
-
PLN members are assigned a para coach that supports them through the program
-
PLN members receive a stipend of $2100 for program participation (Yrs 1 and 2)
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
-
Applicants to the PLN must have at least 3 years of experience as a paraeducator in SFUSD, a positive outlook on the professionalism of paraeducators, and a desire to lead by designing and facilitating PD in an area of expertise or interest (with support!).
-
Computer skills or willingness to learn tech skills are necessary.
-
While we do not have a cap by site or classification for entry into the PLN program, we do attempt to diversify our program by classification, level, and site - thus multiple applicants from the same site, in the same classification, are unlikely to all be accepted.
-
For those applicants who pass Phase 1, you will be asked to schedule an observation and interview.
TO APPLY:
1) Complete the 23/24 Application (written application)
-
Section 2 asks four long answer questions. Please be sure to provide detailed examples and anecdotes where possible while you answer the questions in Section 2. We recommend each response be at least 100 words and should fully answer all aspects of the question.
2) Have a peer complete the online 23/24 Peer Rec
3) Have a person in a supervisory role (Principal, AP, Dean, Counselor or Teacher that supports or oversees your work, etc.) submit the online 23/24 Supervisor Rec
