JENNY LAM serves as a Commissioner on the San Francisco Board of Education and as Past President. Since 2019, she has been a dynamic leader dedicated to fostering community partnerships and championing initiatives that create equitable educational opportunities and enhance outcomes for every student.
Ms. Lam is the Director of Policy, Communications, and Strategic Partnerships at the Department of Early Childhood, City and County of San Francisco. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing a vision for the Department's policy agenda to enhance early childhood, positioning San Francisco as a national leader in high-quality early learning.
Before joining the Department of Early Childhood, Jenny served as the Education Advisor to San Francisco Mayor London N. Breed. In this role, she was instrumental in shaping the city's educational policies and initiatives across early childhood, K-12, and post-secondary education. Jenny collaborated closely with department heads, educators, and community partners to design programs that addressed the diverse needs of children and families in San Francisco.
With nearly 30 years of significant experience in public service, Jenny has a proven track record of leading initiatives that advance education, civil rights, and women's rights. As the State Engagement Manager at EducationSuperHighway, she tackled the critical issue of the digital divide, ensuring that students from underserved communities have the necessary technology needed for digital learning.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Jenny is a proud product of public schools and a first-generation college graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Asian American Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jenny lives in San Francisco with her husband and two young adult children who attended SFUSD schools
