Senior Executive Director of Human Resources

Swen Ervin has served SFUSD for more than 10 years in the Human Resources Department. He came to the District to build a high-touch, community-based program for recruiting and retaining Black and Latinx educators. He subsequently served as senior HR analyst, Manager and Director of Classified Staffing and Executive Director of HR Operations. Prior to coming to San Francisco, Swen served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana focused on recruiting diverse students from New England, leading national recruitment programs and supporting programs that demystified the world of higher education for low-income families from urban and rural communities. He was also a Lecturer in Public Communication at Purdue.

Swen holds a B.A. in Communication (Advertising and Public Relations) and an M.S. in Human Resource Management, both from Purdue University. A trained singer, Swen is a soloist and Creative Director of AfterGlow Chorus based in Oakland.
