Bruce Brown

Bruce Edward Brown was a member of the Spring Class of 1965 at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco.

        He and his twin sister, Patricia Margaret were born on May 19, 1947, in San Francisco to Lloyd Henry and Vivian Margaret (Harris) Brown. Bruce's father was born in San Franisco on May 23, 1910, and died in 1996 in Contra Costa County, California. His mother was born in San Francisco on April 9, 1915, and died in Contra Costa County, California, on June 15, 1981. Bruce and Pat did not have other siblings.

        Bruce's sister, Patricia Margaret, graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in the Spring Class of 1965. Her graduation picture is included in the 1965 Roundup and lists her major as home economics and mentions bowling.

        Bruce entered Abraham Lincoln High School in 1961. He graduated with his twin sister in the Forty-eighth Commencement Class on June 16, 1965. There were no comments next to his picture in the 1965 Roundup.

        He enlisted in the U. S. Navy. After boot camp, he completed training as a hospital corpsman. He was subsequently advanced to hospital mate third class. He was assigned on January 1, 1969, to Vietnam as a corspman with a U. S. Marine Corps combat unit.

        He was wounded and awarded the Silver Star for heroism as well as the Purple Heart Medal. On June 3, 1969, he died from wounds received while his unit was engaged in hostile action in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam. At the time of his death, he was 22 years old.

        He is listed in the Vietnam Combat Area Casualty, 1957-1986, Records of the Office of the Secretary of Defense as having been in hostile action and died of wounds.

        Bruce E. Brown's name is engraved on Panel 23W, Row 50, of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

        His remains were returned to the United States, and he was interred on June 13, 1969, in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, in Section V, Grave #4589.
