In this course, students will be able to combine art, activism, and lived experiences to create artwork of any medium of their choosing (poetry, songwriting, graffiti, visual art) to build community. They will engage in workshops both at MLK and a local Mission District bookstore called Medicine for Nightmares and will be joined by local poets, artists, and painters so they can enhance their skills and get to know other communities around San Francisco. In their final project, students will choose one of their pieces and strengthen it so they can showcase it at an event that will (hopefully) be held at the bookstore.
