Overview
Visitacion Valley Elementary School is a Title I School with culturally diverse students and staff who work together to create and sustain a culture of service and support. We are dedicated to partnering with our families and community to provide our students an optimal education that ensures their lifelong success. As part of this process, we host family engagement meetings, events, and workshops on a regular basis.
Through a comprehensive approach to literacy, we implement reader’s and writer’s units of study, along with guided reading and strategy groups, explicit word study instruction, and a computer-based reading program. We fully implement the SFUSD-designed math curriculum, which includes Math Talks, Three-Read Protocol, hands-on learning, small group instruction, and an adaptive online math learning program. With a large population of English Learners, we have a block of time designated daily for English Language Development and we integrate language development into the core curriculum.
Our school offers many extended learning opportunities. Classrooms incorporate music, visual arts, dance, chorus, and theatre to build student capacities in the creative and performing arts. Our science-based program, Outdoor Education, empowers all students to connect with nature through investigations in the school garden.
We equip students with the tools to succeed in the 21st century by providing technology-based learning for all. Our students also develop and attain life skills and problem solving skills through Restorative Practices, Toolbox lessons, and daily Community Circles to be socially and emotionally ready citizens.

School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
School communities gather twice a year to review data and previous actions in order to intentionally plan for the coming months. The School Plan for Student Achievement is the template on which this review and stakeholder engagement process is codified.
