Back to All Updates

Dear SFUSD Families:

I know yesterday’s news that SFUSD school sites will remain closed through the end of the school year is challenging and a lot to process. I want to emphasize again that the 2019-2020 school year has not ended. The remainder of the school year now transitions from in-person classroom instruction, to instruction and support for students through distance learning. We also know every student is unique and learning from home will look different for everyone. During this time, the safety of your children, as well as yourself, is of the utmost importance. We’ll get through this together.

Updates

Message for Families with PreK - 2nd Grade Students

SFUSD has been creating packets of learning materials for all PreK-2 students to complete as part of our next phase of teacher-led distance learning, which will begin on April 13. Families may pick up preschool through 2nd grade student packets at any one of 9 school sites beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 9. SFUSD will continue to distribute preK-2 learning packets on Friday, April 10 and again next Monday through Friday, April 17. Staff will be onsite to distribute from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm each day.

  • Cesar Chavez
  • John Muir
  • Tenderloin
  • Bessie Carmichael
  • Bret Harte
  • Rosa Parks
  • Sheridan
  • Visitacion Valley ES
  • AP Giannini

When you arrive at a pickup site, staff will be on location outside the school building. There are enough learning packets for every student, so you do not need to rush. To ensure social distancing, if there is a line, families will be asked to stay 6 feet apart. If you have already been contacted by your child’s school regarding receiving learning packets a different way, you may not need to come to one of these central pick up sites. The preK-2 learning packets are the same for all PreK-2 students.

Reminder - April 10 Deadlines for Enrolling in SFUSD Schools

Speaking of books, want to hear a book read aloud by our very own San Francisco mayor as part of #SweetStorieswithSFPL? Tune in to Instagram TV (IGTV) on (@SFPublicLibrary) at 2 pm tomorrow when Mayor London Breed will read "What Can a Citizen Do" by Dave Eggers with illustrations by Shawn Harris.

Warm regards,
