Test Kit Distribution
SFUSD will be distributing at-home test kits for students (2 kits per student) for use at home prior to returning from Memorial Day (May 30). Kits will be distributed via school sites.
SFUSD previously distributed at-home test kits to students and school staff in January 2022 for use at home prior to returning from Spring Break and when needed.
When to Use At-Home Tests
COVID-19 testing is not required. SFDPH recommends usage of at-home tests when:
- Returning to schools if exhibiting symptoms
- Returning to school from isolation on or after 5 days, and
- Screening after holidays, even if you are not symptomatic
- If your student gets sick with symptoms (like cough and fever), stay home and use your tests to see if it is COVID-19.
- If your student is exposed to someone with COVID-19, stay home and use your tests on or after day 5.
SFUSD will continue to offer self-swab test kits at every school site. These test results will be returned within 24 to 48 hours.
If students or staff become symptomatic while on campus, or are identified as close contacts, all school sites have unmonitored self-swab Color kits that can be used and dropped off on the same day at (1) any school site before 10 a.m., or (2) any central office drop-off locations from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please do not come into school. You may go to the Crocker-Amazon testing site.
You can also access testing at locations throughout San Francisco, which includes your primary health care provider and community and public testing sites.
