To slow the spread of COVID-19 this holiday season, anyone 5 years and older should get vaccinated, and anyone vaccinated age 16 and up should get a booster.

Continue common-sense safety measures, such as masking and testing when gathering this holiday season. Please review SFDPH guidance on how we can slow the spread of COVID-19 during this busy time of year.

The California Department of Public Health provided these tips to stay safe from COVID-19 this holiday season:

  • Get vaccinated. It’s the best way to protect others.
  • Keep gatherings small
  • Wear a face mask when indoors.
  • If your guests are unvaccinated or you don’t know their status, plan gatherings that are small, short, and outdoors.
  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth:
    • When social distancing is not possible
    • When you might be around unvaccinated people, especially indoors
    • When around older individuals or people with medical conditions
  • When gathering inside, ventilate well. Open doors and windows, run HVAC systems, and install high-quality air filters.
  • Check local conditions. Your county may have stricter guidance than the state. Take extra precautions when local levels of virus transmission are high.
  • Activate CA Notify and ask your guests to do the same. CA Notify anonymously notifies individuals of a possible exposure.
  • Get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms
  • Stay home if you are sick

For those traveling during the holiday, please review these travel guidance with consideration to COVID-19:

  • Review and follow San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) and California Department of Public Health guidelines related to holiday travel, which recommend that all travelers arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries should follow CDC travel guidance. This supersedes all prior travel advisories.
  • SFUSD is recommending that staff and students who are not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 wait for the end of the CDC-recommended quarantine period before returning to school after travel.
  • This is a recommendation, not a requirement, and school sites are not allowed to make their own policies.

Review and share the information below with your friends and community to share tips on how to stay safe this holiday season.
