The Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) is partnering with Dr. Bernard Harris to offer the CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship Program for high school seniors who are majoring in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Named after former astronaut, physician and businessman Bernard Harris, who was the first African American to walk in space, the scholarships are available to 2022 graduating seniors in urban school districts represented by the Council (including SFUSD).

Four $5,000 scholarships for two males and two females each will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic seniors pursuing studies in STEM-related fields in college next fall.
