Join the Children's Defense Fund Freedom School's free literacy program this summer! The program includes daily meals, Fun Fridays, and field trips.
When: Mondays to Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 13 to July 22
The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® program provides summer enrichment through a research-based and multicultural curriculum that supports children and families through several essential components: high-quality literacy and character-building activities, parent/family involvement, civic engagement, and social action, intergenerational servant leadership development, nutrition, and health.
In partnership with Official Freedom Sites, the program boosts African American students' motivation to read, generates positive attitudes toward learning, and connects children and families to needed resources in their communities. The model incorporates the totality of CDF’s mission by fostering environments that support children and young adults to excel and believe in their abilities to make a difference in themselves and their families, communities, country, and the world with hope, education, and action.
