To celebrate and honor the land stewardship, historic and cultural contributions by California Native Americans, SFUSD acknowledges California Indian Day on Friday September 23, 2022. Board Resolution No. 211-26A1 In Support of Reclaiming the American Indian/Alaskan Native Narrative, written collaboratively with American Indian families and passed unanimously by the Board of Education in January 2021, recognizes that the City of San Francisco sits on occupied unceded Ramaythush Ohlone land and identified key reparations one of which is to acknowledge California Indian Day as the fourth Friday of every September.
We acknowledge Friday, September 23, 2022 as California Indian Day. There will be a celebration on the West Steps of the California State Capitol Building in Sacramento.
