About The Film

The Right to Read shares the stories of an Oakland NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.

Panel Discussion 

The documentary will be followed by a live discussion with San Francisco educators, President of the Board of Education Jenny Lam, and star of the film, Kareem Weaver. The panel will be moderated by film director Jenny Mackenzie.
