Announcement Message

On January 9, 2024, the  California Department of Public Health released updated COVID-19 isolation guidelines for the general public. The updated CDPH guidance has moved away from recommending five days of isolation. The new recommendation for students is to stay home if they have tested positive or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 until they have NOT had a fever for 24 hours without using fever reducing medication AND other COVID-19 symptoms are mild and improving. The revised guidance and associated documents are now posted on the Find All Guidance (ca.gov)

What is staying the same for STUDENTS

  • Students, regardless of vaccination status, are strongly recommended, but not required to follow the CDPH guidance and should stay home if they have tested positive or have been diagnosed with COVID 19.
  • We will continue the current practice of recommending, not requiring, masks at all SFUSD school sites and central offices. Students, employees and visitors may choose to wear a mask as they see fit.
  • We will continue to share updates and resources with families about how to access vaccines in San Francisco via our website.
  • As the COVID-19 landscape continues to change, we remain committed to communities most impacted by the virus. We will continue to work closely with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to share information about how to access COVID-19 resources, such as testing and vaccinations, with those most in need.
