On Saturday, May 4, 2024 (11 am - 4 pm) at UC Law San Francisco (198 McAllister St), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) will bring together students, parents/guardians, educators, and other local community members for a 1-day convening to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Lau v. Nichols, reflect on current gaps for multilingual learners and families, and share opportunities for continued advocacy. 

The goal of the event is to highlight the significance of the Lau decision as a civil rights victory in education and language access.The convening will be multiracial and multilingual, including speaker panels on personal stories and expertise relevant to San Francisco history, current education policy, language access, and civil rights.
