The Brava Theater and the San Francisco Bay Area Theater Company Present The Young Actors Lab Summer Intensives. Led by accomplished local professionals our Young Actors Lab (YAL) is an opportunity for students ages 13 - 18 to develop their craft while building a relationship with Brava and SFBATCO, which KQED recently called “one of the most critical developers of new work in the Bay.” Though sessions held at the Brava Theater Center, 2781 24th St., San Francisco, students will gain a wide range of skills, to take their artistry the next level and for professional or college level auditions
In SESSION 1: ACTING TECHNIQUE (July 7-18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.) Students will explore the practice of acting from the foundations including foundational voice for the stage, movement for the actor and scene study. At the end of the two weeks, student should be able to create strong characters, and command an audience with their performance. Lead Teaching Artist: Aidaa Peerzada.
In SESSION 2: ACTING FOR THE CAMERA (July 21-Aug 1, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.) Students will develop their performance skills for the learn how their vocal, physical choices can best tell a story on screen. Students will gain experience by studying from screenplays, TV pilots and commercials and develop their ability to self tape for professional auditions and college screenings.Lead Teaching Artist: Sedrick Cabrera, recently seen in the hit film Freaking Tales acting opposite Pedro Pascal.
Full Tuition is $700 per session, full and partial scholarships are available!
