Announcement Message
Dear SFUSD Community:
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the recent incidents of violence that have deeply affected communities across the country and, more closely, our own right here in San Francisco. These events are unsettling and, understandably, may cause fear and concern for the safety of our students, staff, and families.
Please know that here in SFUSD, the safety and well-being of everyone in our school community is our highest priority. We take many steps to keep our campuses safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces. This includes:
-
Partnering closely with local law enforcement and emergency services
-
Maintaining and regularly reviewing comprehensive safety protocols
-
Conducting regular emergency response drills and trainings for staff and students
-
Ensuring secure visitor procedures and ongoing safety reviews at all sites
-
Providing mental health resources and counseling support for those in need
We are committed to vigilance, transparency, and care in all we do, and continue to work closely with our elected leaders and city partners. While we cannot control events outside our schools, we can – and will – do everything within our power to keep our schools safe and our community supported, including but not limited to implementing a variety of safety measures such as: visitor check-in procedures, locked doors after the start of the school day, surveillance cameras, public announcement systems, and security locks.
If your child or a member of your family needs support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school’s counselor, social worker, or administrator. We are here for you.
Thank you for your partnership, your trust, and your continued commitment to the safety and strength of our school community.
Warm regards,
Dr. Su
