Dear SFUSD community,

We know that access to healthy and nutritious food is key to unlocking our students’ ability to learn and thrive in our schools and beyond. As a school district, we are committed to providing free breakfast and lunch at SFUSD every school day.

We are grateful to the City’s effort to provide CalFresh Emergency Aid. To address food access issues that families may experience due to the upcoming stoppage of federal food assistance programs, SFUSD will be expanding our Supper Program

Starting November 3, 2025, all After School Programs will provide an option for any youth who are 18 years and younger at the start of the school year, meaning if they turn 19 during the school year, they are still welcome to participate in supper even if they are not enrolled at SFUSD.

Additionally, we will lean into our partnerships with the City and County of San Francisco, community-based organizations, and philanthropy to bolster and sustain existing citywide relief efforts to provide access to food, particularly when schools are not in session. We will be sharing additional updates in the coming weeks.

I am proud of our District’s ongoing commitment to serve each and every student, particularly those furthest from access. We will continue to extend care and support one another.

In community,

Dr Maria Su

Superintendent
