Announcement Message

The San Francisco Board of Education invites community members to participate in an upcoming session of its Ad Hoc Committee on Community Engagement, a newly formed committee focused on strengthening how the Board engages with the community.

The committee will meet four times during spring 2026 with the goal of developing a set of key deliverables to guide and improve the Board’s approach to public engagement. The committee is chaired by Commissioner Parag Gupta, and its members include Board of Education President Phil Kim and Commissioner Alida Fisher.

The committee’s work will focus on:

  • How the Board of Education engages with the public in service of its decision-making;
  • If and how community values are reflected in our goals and guardrails in strategic decisions; and
  • What opportunities we may create for the public to more authentically and effectively engage with the School Board

The first meeting will take place on Thursday, January 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 555 Franklin Street, San Francisco, in the first-floor Irving G. Breyer Board of Education Meeting Room.

Community voices are essential to building clear, transparent, and meaningful pathways for engagement. The Board encourages all interested members of the public to attend and share their perspectives.
