SF Youth Theatre (SFYT) presents a production based on Mark Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger", featuring storytelling, shadow puppetry, projections, and original live music. SFYT is presenting a show for high school audience.

Based on Twain’s final unfinished novella, The Mysterious Stranger. exposes the hypocritical rules of society. Set in 1590s Austria, the story follows three teenagers encountering a Stranger from the future who shines a light on the moral hypocrisy of the village's gossip, greed, and most brutally, witch hunts. Using magic, illusion, and humor, the Stranger challenges the teens to find their own moral compass in a world rife with hypocrisy.

Performed by a mixed age cast of SFUSD teens and adults, the story rings as true today as it was in Twain’s time– urging young people to find the strength to act decisively from one’s own moral compass when the world is pulling away.

All high schools are invited!

Cost: $0-10 per student.

SFYT is a fully accessible community program, so we never turn anyone or any organization away for lack of funding.
