Announcement Message
Dear Ad Hoc Committee Participants,
Thank you for joining the first Ad Hoc Committee on Public Engagement on Jan. 8! We truly appreciate your partnership in strengthening the Board of Education’s community engagement efforts. Attached are slides that summarize the major themes of our two questions.
1) What topics matter most to you that you’d like the Board to engage the community about?
The slide shares the topics that had the most comments. I’ve also included the nature of some of the comments in each topic theme.
2) How would you like the Board to engage with you on these topics?
In addition to sharing the methods of engagement that received the most sticky notes, I also included sentiments that were expressed to capture even more of what community members wrote down. This came through as the participant-recommended lens the School Board should use when considering topics. Finally, we had many stick-it notes that did not directly answer the question.
I look forward to coming together in the next meeting to continue to make meaning from these comments and collaboratively develop the mechanisms by which the School Board engages the community.
Please access a transcription of all of the post-it notes collected from the meeting on the SFUSD website.
To help us improve future meetings, we kindly request that you provide your feedback by completing this form. Your insights and suggestions are greatly appreciated and will play a critical role in shaping our work moving forward.
We hope you can join us at the next meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Public Engagement on Thursday, Feb. 5. Details will be posted to that website as soon as they are available.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
Commissioner Parag Gupta
