Announcement Message

Dear SFUSD Community,

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as the district continues to prepare for all SFUSD schools to be closed to students on Monday, February 9.

Please read the following updates.

How to Contact SFUSD for Support

SFUSD’s Student Family School Resource Link will continue to provide support for families and staff next week. Email requests to sflink@sfusd.edu, call 415-340-1716 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mondays - Fridays), or complete an online request form.

Independent Study

Paper copies of the Independent Study learning packets are currently being delivered throughout the City to some community centers, libraries and school sites. When we have a more detailed list of sites, addresses and hours of operation, we will update you and SFUSD.edu. Of course, you have access to these resources 24/7 through the district website.

Food Distribution Resources

Our partners with DCYF have created a list of food distribution sites throughout the City for children 18 and under. Here’s a map that shows where these sites are located. SF Marin Food Bank has updated their “Find Food” website with additional locations.

ExCEL Off-Site Programs

Some Community Based Organizations that normally operate after school programs at SFUSD schools are offering student programs at off-site locations, including enrichment, homework support, recreation and meals. Access is limited and spaces will be prioritized for TK-6th grade students who meet certain criteria.

DCYF-Funded/SFUSD-Vetted Student Resource Sites

Some Community Based Organizations that operate after-school youth programs will offer daytime activities for SFUSD students. Please note, each Community Based Organization has an extremely limited number of spaces due to staff and facility capacity. Please contact the Community Based Organization directly, in order to determine if there is capacity to support your student.

Enrollment Center Closed to In Person Visits on Monday, Feb. 9

The Enrollment Center is closed to in-person visits while schools are closed, but they are available by phone (415-241-6085) and email (enrollinschool@sfusd.edu), Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The Enrollment Center office and phone are closed for lunch from 12:00 - 1:00 PM daily.

All SFUSD Offices Closed on Monday, Feb. 9

While schools are closed, SFUSD offices (including 555 Franklin Street and 135 Van Ness Avenue) will be closed to both staff and the public. Any appointments with Human Resources, Benefits, Payroll, Accounting, etc, will have to be rescheduled for when the buildings reopen.

Negotiations Update

We remain committed to negotiating with our labor partners throughout the weekend, beginning at 2:00 p.m. today, to reach an agreement so we can avoid a strike. We will continue to pursue a win-win proposal that provides fiscal certainty for the district by matching spending to available resources, while delivering compensation directly to educators. Our current proposal reflects the needs of all educators and keeps the district on a clear runway to exit state oversight. It is responsive to United Educators of San Francisco’s stated priorities, authorized by the Board of Education, and supported by the findings of the recent neutral fact-finding report.

Thank you for your understanding. We will continue to keep you informed of updates.

Sincerely,
Dr. Maria Su
San Francisco Unified School District
