Announcement Message

Reach & Rise is a mentoring and youth development program run by YMCA of San Francisco as part of its Urban Services initiatives. The program supports youth who may be experiencing challenges such as family stress, school difficulties, social isolation, or exposure to community violence. Reach & Rise pairs youth (ages 6–17) with trained adult volunteer mentors who provide consistent support, guidance, and positive role modeling. Through regular one-on-one/group meetings and structured activities, mentors help youth build confidence, strengthen decision-making skills, and develop healthy relationships.

The program uses a therapeutic approach, meaning professional staff carefully screen, train, and supervise mentors while monitoring each youth’s progress. This ensures safe and meaningful mentoring relationships that focus on emotional well-being, academic engagement, and personal growth. Reach & Rise aims to empower young people to overcome obstacles, improve their resilience, and expand their opportunities for success in school and life. By combining mentorship, community support, and professional oversight, the program helps youth “reach” their potential and “rise” toward a brighter future.
