Announcement Message
Dear SFUSD Community,
Every day, my top priority is making sure that our students are learning, building meaningful connections with their peers, and receiving the support they need to thrive in our schools.
SFUSD has received a request from the House Committee on Education and Workforce to appear at a hearing on June 10, 2026, titled: “Breaking Trust: Attacks on Parental Rights, Inappropriate Content, and Legal Abuses in America’s Schools.”
As Superintendent, I will attend the hearing to provide testimony. You may see news reports on this issue, and I want you to hear directly from me about this matter.
Our core focus is ensuring that every student reaches our key outcomes: third-grade literacy, eighth-grade math, and college and career readiness. Parents play an essential role in this work, and as dedicated partners in their children’s education, their collaboration is invaluable to helping every student succeed.
Over the last year, we have modernized our curriculum, improved district operations, strengthened the district’s fiscal outlook, and begun important work to fix our enrollment system. This represents major progress, but we also have hard work ahead.
I will continue to stay focused on that work in partnership with parents, teachers, and district staff, and look forward to discussing the important progress we’ve made in improving student outcomes.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maria Su
SFUSD Superintendent
