Summer EBT (SUNBucks) Card - Last chance

If your student is actively enrolled in SFUSD, and your household was eligible (you received a MFIF results letter with Free or Reduced) between July 1, 2025 and August 28, 2026, you may still receive a SUN Bucks card in the next mailing, currently expected in Winter 2026 (approximately January 2027).

Submit the MFIF today at SchoolCafe.com for SUNBucks if you are one of the following:

  • Parent/guardian of an eligible household who has not submitted a MFIF in the last year.
  • Parent/guardian just now learning about SUNBucks ($120 card per child), and haven’t submitted a MFIF in the last year. 
    • NEW THIS YEAR- We've added a new section on our MFIF to help streamline SUNBucks eligibility. Please be sure to review this section.

How you can help ensure your student’s eligibility information is current:

  • Complete the 2026-2027 SFUSD Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) at SchoolCafe.com.
  • Be sure to select "Yes" for SUN Bucks on the application.
  • Review your MFIF Results Letter to confirm that your eligibility status is Free or Reduced.

The last day to submit an eligible MFIF for SUNBucks benefits is August 28, 2026. Any person who makes an eligible submission by this deadline may receive their SunBucks card(s) in November. 

Please note: Receiving a card or benefits is not guaranteed and is determined by the California Department of Social Services based on eligibility requirements.

How to check your eligibility:

You are encouraged to reapply if you don’t agree with the results shown in your letter, review the income guidelines, and submit a new form. Review the Eligibility Letter Guide to learn how to find your results. 

You can verify your student's eligibility in one of the following ways:

  • Search your email inbox for the subject line: SFUSD MFIF Results, or SFUSD Direct Certification
  • Log in to your SchoolCafe.com parent account: select Eligibility Information and review your Notification/Eligibility Letter to confirm your student's eligibility status.

For cardholder assistance, the SUN Bucks helpline is available at (877) 328-9677. The helpline provides automated support 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Live agents are available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
