School Traffic Advisory: Broadway Tunnel Construction

Beginning Monday, August 17, construction at the Broadway Tunnel will reduce traffic capacity to one lane in each direction. The reduced capacity will continue in phases for approximately 14 months and may result in increased traffic and longer travel times in the Chinatown and North Beach areas.

Important Impact for Students, Families, and Staff 

Because this partial closure of the Broadway Tunnel begins on Monday, August 17, it may affect school morning drop-off and afternoon pickup traffic at some Chinatown and North Beach schools. 

We recommend planning ahead by:
  • Allowing extra travel time
  • Considering alternate routes
  • Staying alert for changing traffic patterns in the area
