Announcement Message

From the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA):

Starting Aug. 29, Muni service changes to begin, directly support school communities:

  • 8AX Bayshore A Express:

    • Now, students heading from Visitacion Valley or the Portola to Francisco Middle School can take a one-seat ride to school with more morning 8 Bayshore trips! There’s no need to transfer anymore.
    • Students previously had to transfer from the 8AX to get to school.
  • 28R 19th Avenue Rapid:

    • This route will now stop at 19th Avenue and Eucalyptus Drive! That means Lowell students and others can take the 28 19th Avenue or the 28R 19th Avenue Rapid to reach school.
  • 66 Quintara, 37 Corbett and K Ingleside:

    • We are adjusting service slightly at three middle schools: Hoover Middle School, Rooftop School and Aptos Middle School.
      • Students at Hoover Middle School and Rooftop School will use the typical 66 Quintara and 37 Corbett service, respectively, at their regular stops.
      • Aptos Middle School students can take the K Ingleside outbound to the Ocean Ave. & CCSF Pedestrian Bridge stop and board the 8 Bayshore at Geneva Ave. & Howth St.

The SFMTA is also adding more trips during morning peak hours on other routes that support students. They include the 22 Fillmore, 29 Sunset, 38R Geary Rapid and 49 Van Ness-Mission.

In addition, the 1 California and N Judah will arrive more often. The 5R Fulton Rapid will have more capacity with larger, 60-foot buses. We are also adding capacity during busy times citywide.
