Are you passionate about making a difference in your school community? Do you want to have a voice in shaping the educational experience for English language learners?

The DELAC Youth Leaders Program empowers English Learner Students/Multilingual Learner (ML) students to uplift their voices and advocate for equity and inclusion across the district. Youth leaders will collaborate with district staff, participate in leadership development activities, and contribute their insights to improve programs and services for ML students.

Who can apply: 

SFUSD high school students 

Responsibilities: 

  • Advise the district on programs and services for students learning English

  • Attend monthly DELAC meetings (3rd Wednesday of the month)

Participants will gain experience in leadership, policy advocacy, public speaking, and cultural competency—building skills that will serve them in school and beyond.  

Fellowship Stipend: 

Students may earn up to $1,999* for successful participation and completion of program requirements. (* Students may not earn more than $1999 in a calendar year across multiple programs.)
