Help shape safer school connections
The SFMTA wants to partner with families and school communities to make biking and rolling to school safer and easier.
Safe School Connections is a new SFMTA initiative that expands the agency’s work to improve school travel options. The goal is to connect more schools to San Francisco’s biking and rolling network. These routes would be safe and comfortable for people of all ages and abilities.
The initiative builds on community feedback gathered during the Biking and Rolling Plan. That feedback helped set early priorities:
- Make existing bikeways safer
- Close gaps in the network
- Make it easier to reach schools.
Share your feedback with SFMTA.
- Visit the Safe School Connections website (SFMTA.com/School Connections) to learn more.
- Complete this brief survey by September 30, 2026, to share your feedback and ideas.
After the survey closes on September 30, the SFMTA will use the responses to shape how it identifies its first projects and measures success. The agency expects to present its final approach to the SFMTA Board of Directors for approval in early 2027.
