SFUSD is launching a Newcomer Programs Working Group, and we invite families, educators, school staff, students, and community members to join us! We know that our immigrant and newcomer students and families bring incredible strengths, experiences, and perspectives to our school communities. We also recognize that we must do more to ensure every student and family feels welcomed, supported, and connected. This working group will bring together families, staff, community partners, and district leaders to listen, learn, share resources, and develop recommendations that strengthen our programs and systems of support. Whether you are a newcomer family or someone who wants to stand alongside and advocate for our immigrant communities, your voice and participation matter.
Please join us on Thursday, October 22, and Thursday, October 29 from 5–6 p.m. at Everett Middle School (450 Church Street). Together, we will identify the needs and experiences of newcomer students and families, share promising practices, and work toward schools where every student experiences belonging and has the opportunity to thrive. Dinner and childcare will be provided. We encourage you to share this invitation with families, colleagues, and community members who want to help build a stronger, more welcoming SFUSD. Please use the QR code on the attached flyer or the link to RSVP. We hope to see you there!
