Orientation & Training
Mentors are offered regular training by experienced trainers who have extensive experience in education and youth development. Research shows that mentor training enriches relationships, resulting in sustained mentoring matches. For this reason, mentors are expected to attend a minimum of one training per year. Trainings are designed to support the mentor in every aspect of the developing relationship.
Orientations are provided by District Coordinators and Site Coordinators and are required to begin mentoring. Don't forget to fill out your Mentor Orientation Evaluation!
Throughout the school year, MFS has various training offerings including anti-racist strategies and implementing Social-Emotional Learning into your mentoring relationship. If there are topic areas you would like to discuss (for example, more practice on setting boundaries or having difficult conversations) email us to schedule something.
