School Site Council Summit IN PERSON 01/15

Greetings MLK Community,

The School District has shared the Preliminary Draft School Site Staff and Budget Allocations with our school site. I will be sharing this information at MLK MS’s School Site Council Summit Meeting on Thursday January 15, 2026 at 5:30PM in Person in the MLK Library. 

We would like to invite and encourage all families to attend this important meeting.

Your voice is crucial in setting our school priorities for the upcoming school year. 

Please note, the Spring meeting schedule for families is as follows:

• January 15, 2026 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM School Site Summit (In-Person at MLK MS Library, 2nd Floor) 
• January 22, 2026 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Principal’s Coffee Chat / Community Meeting on School Budget (In-Person at MLK MS Library, 2nd Floor) 
• January 29, 2026 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM (Online Zoom)

All families are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.

A School Site Council (SSC) must be established at all San Francisco Unified School District public schools. The elected members represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in school governance. The SSC is responsible for the development the Academic Plan, and overall school site budget including any categorical funds. The SSC is expected to:

• Review the SFUSD Strategic Plan: Transform Learning. Transform Lives.
• Review and analyze student data.
• Solicit community input and develop a needs assessment.
• Assist the principal in developing the BSC/SPSA and school site budget.
• Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the BSC/SPSA on an ongoing basis.
• Approve the Academic Plan and school site budget before it is submitted to the District for final review and approval.
