Message from Principal Dominguez
Students and families,
After nearly 18 months it is time to return to Lowell and I couldn't be more excited to see you. I understand and share apprehension related to the unknowns of the COVID variants but with vaccinations and a united effort to mask up, follow the Department of Health guidance and to be safe, I am confident we are going to have a great 2021-2022 school year.
This newsletter was put together to help you prepare for the first week of school and answer many of the questions I am sure you must have. As you know, the administrative team is mostly new and we have been working as fast as possible to set you up for success. You can count on this level of communication to come out much earlier as we settle into our new roles and as we receive details from SFUSD.
Last week I shared a few updates including the start and end times for school. I would like to apologize for a late change to that communication because due to unavoidable circumstances the Lowell Administrative Council (Administrators, Department Heads and Union representation) determined it was in the best interest of students and staff to add minutes to Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday now ending at 4:00 pm. Wednesdays will now end at 2:25 pm.
This added time will allow our teachers to provide more in class support for students and collaboration time for staff to plan on Wednesday.
Please enjoy your final week of summer break and rest assured that we are doing everything we can to create the best, safest and equitable experience for you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this entire newsletter and WELCOME BACK!
