Bulletin No 8 - Oct 20

Principal's message

Hello Families,
I hope you are having a fantastic week!

What have you been doing to take care of yourselves and your wellness? MEC has been on the forefront for the district in regards to our Wellness program. In order for us to do well academically we must take care of our physical and emotional needs.

We have a wonderful PE program as well as dance classes for students. Students are learning games and stretches to increase their physical fitness. We also participate in a Mindfulness program that teaches breathing techniques to keep us calm. Ask your child about these programs and how they are experiencing them. They may even teach you stretches and some breathing exercises to help with your wellness.

I would like to take the opportunity to remind you about the importance of school attendance. Students will progress and do better academically if they are here daily. Please make medical and dental appointments either before or after school. It is okay if your child arrives late to school if it is for medical reasons.
Even your child oversleeps, bring them to school late.

If you will be changing how your child gets home on a particular day, please give the office a call to let us know or send a note letting us know of the change. We've had situations where students have said they are supposed to go home on the school bus but they are enrolled in the After School Program. If we do not have notification of a change, we will send students to what you have indicated in the past. So, if you child regularly  goes home on the school bus that is what we will do. If you child regularly goes to the After School Program, we'll send them there.

We are busy making plans for our annual Halloween celebration. Please let your child's teacher know if they will be allowed to dress in a costume and participate in Halloween events. We know that many families do not celebrate Halloween and we'd like to adjust our plans to be inclusive of everyone. Please see next week's bulletin for more information.

One last thing, this is the time of year we start finding head lice in students. If your child has long hair, please have them wear their hair in a pony tail. Should you child get lice, please treat it immediately.

Have an amazing week!

All my best,
Ms. Vasquez
